Salary & Benefits: Starting Salary is $40,836.58 per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Santa Fe College Biotechnology Programs is seeking an Academic Lab Manager to assist in the management and maintenance of the Perry Center labs. This position is also responsible for the operational readiness of the labs. This requires ensuring a safe laboratory environment, ongoing inventory management, maintenance of simulation and lab equipment, faculty training of equipment, budget preparation, and supervision of the student assistants.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Prepare the equipment, reagents, and physical set-up for all lab classes offered at the Perry Center experiments, and supervise lab assistants performing the same activities during all weeks of scheduled classes.
· Maintain current inventory of all equipment (including models) used in the labs and classrooms.
· Maintain current inventory status of all consumables.
· Communicate lab needs to faculty on timely basis to maintain lab environment and equipment.
· Work with the administrative assistant to manage the determined expense budget for the laboratory expenses including small equipment and consumables, and the budget allocated for lab staff wages.
· Advise the department chair on laboratory capital needs.
· Identify and source appropriate products for lab use, including obtaining multiple vendor quotes.
· Enforce OSHA regulations for all Perry Center laboratory classes and laboratory preparations.
· Promote and adhere to all recognized safety practices and standards.
· Maintain cleanliness and neatness of all lab areas, including prep areas.
· Maintain MSDS files and overseeing its implementation.
· Maintain proper disposal of all toxic and biohazard materials and maintenance of disposal records.
· Assist with the interviewing, hiring, scheduling and supervision of work study students, educational aides and part-time, temporary support employees.
· Train, manage, and evaluate student and laboratory assistants for staffing, monitoring, and maintaining CLS laboratories.
· Ability to install and maintain all lab and simulation equipment including the ability to troubleshoot and perform simple repairs.
· Provide support to faculty in the development and implementation of new equipment and technology.
· Program simulation scenarios and troubleshoots scenarios when needed.
· Maintain warranty and maintenance information on equipment and anatomical mannequins.
· Request work orders through college and vendors for room and equipment maintenance.
· Prepare required data and reports student fee request every three years.
· Assist in the preparation of events.
· Communicate, collaborate and maintain working relationships with community constituents, partners, and vendors
· Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
Reports to: Director, Perry Center
Qualifications
Required: Master’s degree in science or health-related field and (2) two years of related in experience in inventory management, including inventory, ordering, and receiving or Bachelor’s degree in science or health-related field and (4) four years of related experience in inventory management, including inventory, ordering, and receiving.
Additional Requirements: Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 20lbs routinely. A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: Familiarity of the health care or industrial biotechnology environment. Familiarity with learning management systems, such as CANVAS.
