Inventory Accounting Manager - Robstown

The Inventory Accounting Manager will support the Accounting and Finance team by managing and overseeing all Inventory, as it relates to Accounting, in our Robstown location. This person will be considered the owner of all things associated with Inventory in both internal tracking systems as well as the company’s ERP system.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of period end close activities for inventory and related inventory reserves, including journal entries, account reconciliations and roll-forwards in accordance with reporting deadlines.
  • Manage end-to-end inventory processes and provide analysis of company performance by collecting, interpreting, and presenting key reports to management
  • Monitor inventory accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Support annually the standard cost update; confirm all costs are updated in ERP system
  • Maintains direct working relationship with Operations, Yard and Commercial Team regarding inventory movement and creation
  • Maintains direct working relationship with Purchasing, Production Planning and Commercial Teams concerning material delivery schedules and shipments
  • Monitors spending and stock levels as it relates to inventory ensuring proper documentation of invoices, packing lists and bill of lading for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with the financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements to ensure accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Assist with maximizing software utilization and any future implementations
  • Protect integrity of inventory by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Inventory Management, Operations Management or Business Administration required
  • 5-10 years in inventory demonstrating increasing responsibility in various areas of inventory, yard or warehouse management
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Microsoft Great Plains experience is a plus
  • Track record of hands-on work experience in inventory and labor-based businesses is a plus
  • At least 5 years of inventory management experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Candidate must thrive in a team environment
  • Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with strong skills in multi-tasking, written/verbal communication, organizational ability, prioritization, and dealing with ambiguity
  • Works with confidential data, which if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect
