Adjunct Faculty - Audio Post-Production
Position Description: The successful candidate will be versed in sound editing and sound design for the screen, skilled in the use of industry-standard hardware and software (e.g., Fairlight, Audition, ProTools), with the ability to teach BFA students.
Candidates given strongest consideration will have an established résumé in film and television. This position requires both didactic and lab instruction.
Duties:
- Teaching semester-course(s) in area of expertise. Instructor will teach the theory, techniques and aesthetics of audio post-production, within a practical workshop focusing on the sound design of students' current film projects, using advanced, industry-standard hardware and software (e.g., Fairlight, Audition, ProTools).
- Utilize department syllabus and course assignments, with meeting times and specific reading and writing assignments for students within the departmental guidelines and program mission, establishing and communicating clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Instructing students individually and in groups using various instructional methods, such as lectures, discussions and demonstrations.
- Setup hardware/software workflows in editing labs to accommodate course objectives.
- Administrative activities: grading course work; participating in general curriculum development; maintaining and completing student records as required by administrative policy; preparing and administering written, oral, and performance-based tests; submitting final grades in accordance with HCLA policy.
- Work closely with the school's administrators, academic advisers and administrative staff.
