Job Mission
Performs a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, or opto-mechanical assembly operations on systems, assemblies or sub-assemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to work instructions.
Schedule:M-F, 5:30am – 2:00pm, Overtime and rotating Saturdays required.
Role and responsibilities
- Builds and validatesprecision Opto-mechanical assemblies in strict accordance with procedure.
- Uses standardized toolsand electric equipment (i.e., torque wrenches, electric and pneumaticscrewdrivers and ball drivers) to perform mechanical assembly onopto-mechanical assemblies.
- Enters data into companydatabases.Audits data to ensure accuracy.
- Executes simplestandardized process inspections/tests throughout the production process.
- Interfaces withengineers to support special builds, and experiments with detailedinstructions.
- Collaborateswith peers and/or supervisors to resolve problems depending on the leveland complexity.
- Uses cleaning cloths withAcetone, Methanol, and Isopropyl alcohol to wipe surfaces prior toshipping product.
- Operates precisioncleaning machinery.
- Prepares completedassemblies for shipment.
- Recommends proceduralimprovements to management.
- Follows control measuresand processes to ensure the quality of modules produced.
- Identifies and documentsdiscrepant material.
- May provide guidance and/or train other team members.
- Identifies opportunitiesfor continuous improvement.
- Performs other duties asassigned.
Education and experience
- Requires a High SchoolDiploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of six (6) yearsof assembly experience preferred.
- Experience working withprecision optical components is desirable.
- ESD experience isdesirable.
- Experience in usingelectronic, pneumatic, and hand tools preferred.
- Experience with electro-optical and/or opto-mechanical systems as well as environmental testing is desired.

- Ability to performin-process quality inspections of components and/or full assemblies withinthe Manufacturing area(s).
- Knowledge of LeanManufacturing and 5S principles preferred.
- Excellent written andverbal communication skills.
- Requires general computerskills and knowledge.
- Can learn and apply newinformation or skills.
- Can work under deadlines.

This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA . It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.

- The environment generallyis moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level in acleanroom environment.
- Must be willing to work ina cleanroom or manufacturing environment, wearing assigned PersonalProtective Equipment (PPE): coveralls, masks, hoods, booties, safetyglasses and/or gloves for entire duration of shift.
- Must be willing tooccasionally lift, pull and/or push up to 35 pounds.
The California base annual salary/hourly range for this role is currently $20.37-$33.95. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
