Job description

This position reports to the Engineering Manager for the Sensient Colors St Louis Manufacturing site. As an AutoCAD drafter, you will modify/create/update designs for the Sensient Engineering Team, Maintenance Team, Operations Organization, and Quality Organizations. Responsibilities will include creating both 2D and 3D models of components and buildings primarily used for construction. The AutoCAD drafter will periodically meet with architects and engineers to discuss design concepts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Using the appropriate AutoCAD computer-aided drafting equipment to create and/or modify:

2D renderings of building interiors and exteriors

P&IDs

Electrical schematics

Plumbing diagrams

Structural/Mechanical drawings

Architectural drawings

Producing and presenting high quality drawings that meet industry standards and comply with relevant codes and regulations

Communicating with other members of a design team to ensure that designs are feasible and meet industry standards

Reviewing blueprints and other drawings for accuracy and formatting compliance

Ability to capture details from the field in order to maintain compliance & accuracy

Develop and maintain a system to control drawings

Demonstrating the workflows with the help of a flowchart

Presenting various design perspectives for construction improvements and adaptations

Finalizing AutoCAD models

Update Drawings from “red lined” drawings

Training and instructing Sensient Engineers on AutoCAD features, tips and software updates

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a certification in Engineering or Architectural Technology

Previous work experience as an AutoCAD drafter, preferably in a manufacturing environment

Advanced knowledge of CAD and AutoCAD software

Advanced knowledge of mathematics, engineering, and architectural concepts

Knowledge of state safety and structure regulations

Excellent technical design skills

Good communication skills

A keen eye for aesthetics and detail.
