The Gelson’s Markets Checker’s primary responsibility is to attend to the needs of every customer and ensure
a top quality shopping experience. The Checker will be responsible operating a cash register and check stand to provide the customer with the most accurate and efficient checkout service possible by processing sales transactions including cash, checks, credit, EFT transactions, “SNAP” debit cards, manufacturers’ coupons and gift
certificates. The Checker must be knowledgeable in and be able to recognize various types of produce, verify all customer identification documents presented and observe store policies pertaining to the acceptance of checks and the sale of alcoholic beverages.

As a Gelson’s Markets Checker you will come in direct contact with our customers. Excellent customer service,
attentive listening and resourceful assistance are crucial. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with
customers and all levels of staff within Gelson’s Markets is mandatory. The Gelson’s Checker must possess
strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

All Checker positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.

Physical requirements:

• Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
• Reaching above and at shoulder level
• Standing up to 8 hours per day
• Bending and twisting up to 5 hours per day
• Walking, squatting and kneeling up to 2 hours per day
• Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently
• Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Exposure to noise (Front end check stand noise)

The pay range for this position is - $18.20 - $25.60
