About us

Keating Out-of-School Care (KOSC) is a licensed not-for-profit child care facility located on the Saanich Peninsula. We have been in operation since 1993 here at Keating Elementary School and have expanded greatly since then. Our dedicated volunteer parent board oversees the program which is run by an amazing manager and many wonderful staff!

Join Our Team!

We are looking for childcare leaders to join our fun and dynamic team starting as soon as possible.

Available shifts:

Afternoons: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Additional shifts (including morning shifts) may be available at a later time, as well as on-call/sub shifts. Full-day shifts (7am to 3pm, 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm, and 10am to 6pm) are available on Pro-D Days and Break Camps.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Clear criminal record check.
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C
• Experience working with children.
• Must be self-motivated, reliable, and an awesome team player.
• 20 hours of training in Child Development, Nutrition, or Health and Safety (can provide training opportunities if applicant does not initially possess).

Job Description:

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of 15-30 children in care in collaboration with room partner.
• Help establish and carry out a daily schedule that incorporates child-directed activities, routines, and transition times.
• Maintain contact and communication with parents and other staff.
• Maintain accurate records of children's attendance and ensure that children in group are accounted for at all times.
• Assist with daily snack preparation and cleanup.
• Ensure building is kept clean, well maintained and child friendly.
• Attend regular staff meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the centre’s children, their parents, and other staff.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organization and planning.
• Energy and enthusiasm.
• Must love working with kids!
