The Albert C. Wiltshire Employment Center recruits qualified candidates for positions within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park housing over 400+ businesses within the manufacturing, food, media, technology, and creative fields.

A Brooklyn Navy Yard-based industrial microscope manufacturing company is seeking a full time permanent CNC Operator. The CNC Machinist is responsible for working with computer numeric controlled (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic or other materials. Must have a deep understanding of Computer Numeric Controlled equipment. This role will work closely with out prototyping and design team.

Key Responsibilities

The position will be responsible for the following:

• Produces machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a CNC Mill and/or CNC Lathe.
• Read and understand CNC programs, layouts and drawings.
• Inspect machined parts.
• Maintain quality and safety standards.
• Complete daily production / quality logs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
• Ability to use inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) as needed
• Ability to hold tight tolerances
• Strong verbal communications skills
• Programming experience/knowledge is helpful, Mastercam is a plus

Education and Experience

• 2-year Vocational degree in machining field and/or equivalent experience and education
• Minimum of 5-7 years of work-related experience with CNC Machines (specifically MultiCam, Thermwood, Kongsberg or similar machines) required.

Work Environment

This position is located in Brooklyn, NY and may require some travel. Our offices are located in the recently renovated Brooklyn Navy Yard. We are housed with other innovative and growing companies in a unique and open space work environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38.46 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
