Put your heart to work!AbleLight is currently looking for Community & Campus Coordinator for our AbleLight College program that is onsite at Concordia University in Mequon, WI.
In this role, the Community & Campus Coordinator will develop and facilitate campus and community engagement efforts that enhance AbleLight College student learning and development through service, social and employment engagement endeavors. This role is responsible for working closely with students and student staff to ensure students assimilate to campus life and participate in on/off campus experiences. Will have primary responsibility for the residential aides to ensure that students have a positive, integrated and meaningful experiences during their school year. This role also has primary responsibility for facilitation and planning on and off campus social activities to ensure we meet the goal of the program for independence, well-being, faith and community.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- 2 years related experience with at least 6 months of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience working with Neurodiverse populations and individuals with disabilities is required.
- Experience working with high school and college-age individuals is preferred
- Valid driver's license
- General demands of a classroom environment & regularly traversing the campus grounds.
- Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to collaborate with others, as well as self-initiation skills.
- IDD field knowledge and expertise with emphasis on independent living skills and how to teach.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with other teams for success.
- Proficient in Microsoft SharePoint, Blackboard, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Able to multi-task and problem solve with effective results.
- Flexibility within assigned work hours, mainly during the day but would need evenings or weekends

- Work Location onsite at the Concordia University campus and within the community
- Responsible for oversight of dorm and residential life as well as serving as an advisor to the AbleLight college students on life skills, work, personal, and school needs. Support students by using identified interventions and skill building..
- Initiate, develop, and maintain positive and supportive relationships with all area residents and staff members; develop rapport with all residents of the assigned community on a first-name basis.
- Be present in the community during various times throughout the week and weekend; visit with residents and engage as an active community member on a consistent and intentional basis.
- Utilize robust knowledge of resident needs and interests to develop community-wide programs.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to create and implement programming that supports the intellectual, social, emotional, recreational and independent living sills for individuals in the program.
- Develop and coordinate a monthly schedule of campus life activities each semester for students and Resident Aids to leverage including both on and off campus activities including service opportunities.
- Plan for and lead regular social groups for neurodiverse individuals who are part of AbleLight College.
- Collaborate with and build strong relationships with college-wide departments, faculty, support staff and campus-wide organizations to meet the needs of the students in the program and the needs of the College program.
- Teach and prepare classes as needed each semester.
- Assess, evaluate, and guide curriculum development and alignment, annually, based on the needs of the students. Outline goals/objectives and learning plans for successful outcomes of the program.
- Serve as an advisor and mentor to assigned AbleLight college students and collaborate with families.
- Builds and leads a team through selection, training, professional development, recognition, performance management. Ensures high levels of engagement and commitment to the mission.
