Provide services as a Computation Analyst in support of the overall functions of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Work collaboratively with other data scientists and application developers to develop informatics infrastructure and support for rare diseases research.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide support and consultation in the areas of scientific computation, application-development and computer modeling.
• Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test and modify computer systems, programs and integrations. Apply machine learning and/or natural language processing approaches for data analysis and modeling. 3
• Data visualization.
• Develop methods for analyzing complex datasets from various sources; document methodological approaches to data analysis performed, including detailed procedures and rationale. 2
• Work with staff on the evolving infrastructure, data engineering pipeline, and data science stacks.
• Develop custom computer applications for collecting and analyzing data, including some that interface with commercial and custom-built hardware.
• Maintain accurate and complete problem tracking and resolution databases. 4
• Perform algorithm development and implementation.
• Utilize knowledge of data structure, data management and various programming language. 1
• Manage data formatting input and output.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control; troubleshoot issues with image analysis and quality. Drive collection of new data and the refinement of existing data.
• Prepare data and analysis for presentations and publication. 5
• Prepare research data for presentation and manuscripts.
• Provide documentation as required and participate in code reviews, planning sessions, and routine status meetings.
• Support and train users in applying data analysis pipelines and methods for research studies.
• Draft work products and documents to support training in management; generate user-friendly tools and procedures.
• Update in data processing, programming scripts, database development, documentation and/or data visualization. - Bi- Weekly
• Present updates to other team members. - Bi-Weekly

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Systems, Computer Programming and Data Processing, Information Sciences, or Computer Science.
• Skilled in Python software.
• Knowledge of scientific data analysis, statistical modeling, database management, data visualization, data presentation, machine learning, computer programming, and data annotation.
• Knowledge in diseases, genomics, or biological sciences.

• Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
