Position Highlights

The selected candidate will support research in ground and space-based telescopes. They will work closely with mechanical, software, and optical engineers to accomplish the goals of the Principal Investigator and their program. Scientific software engineering and data processing skills to develop and operate software systems for science data processing and analysis for space missions. Strives to bring creative and innovative ideas to solve exciting problems. Responsible for the development of data analysis and visualization tools, implementation of scientific processing algorithms, data processing and data analysis, maintenance of existing systems, and dissemination of scientific data. Collaborates with scientists, mission operators, engineers, students, and other colleagues and stakeholders. We are looking for applicants that communicate well with diversified teams and can collaborate with stakeholders across CAAO, Steward Observatory, and the science community.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage data in secure cloud servers. To include keeping track of users and access restrictions on Microsoft 365 Government.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of software for processing and analysis of scientific and engineering data from space science missions – we use a variety of languages and both on-premise and Cloud-resident implementations.
  • Maintain secure servers housed the cloud and inside of Steward Observatory and make sure users have access to the servers. To include CAD servers and Git repositories.
  • Help develop GUI interfaces to allow people to access the information.
  • Attending meetings to keep up with the development of the project and make sure all objectives are being achieved for both the cloud and local servers for information

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS/BA in computer science or equivalent
  • AWS or AZURE cloud experience
  • Distributed version control Git
  • Scientific computing experience
  • Languages: Python, C, C++, Javascript
  • Experiencing Deploying Virtual machines or Containers
  • Continuous Integration and Test experience
