Marsh McLennan (MMC) Database Services are growing at fast pace and currently have an opportunity for a creative and inquisitive Database Administrator (Azure SQL & Oracle). This role could be based remotely, out of Canada office locations, with a degree of remote working also available.

We will rely on you to:

• Design and construct large relational databases.
• Integrate new systems with existing structure and refine system performance and functionality.
• Manage data integration and train users on effective implementation of database practices
• Take complex codes and break them down logically for end-user understanding
• Compute solutions to data problems in a timely manner with techniques that offer long-term success
• Transmit information feedback between end-users and data specialists to ensure high-quality programs
• Research industry best practices in emerging technologies and implement into database design
• Maintain an open and optimistic point of view to build broad systems that provide dependable and customized usage to multiple end-users
• Provide support with continuing maintenance, updates and upgrades; identifying and fixing problems as they arise
• Provide recommendations for performance tuning and improvements to existing databases

What you need to have:

• 5+ years of database experience or other related computer science experience
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
• Must have 3+ years of Oracle GoldenGate Software experience
• Sound knowledge of Relational DBMS (Database Management Systems)
• Talented in Database and cloud computing design, architectures, and data lakes

Azure SQL Skills

• 3+ years of experience in supporting the Azure SQL database (PAAS & IAAS).
• Must have experience with Heterogeneous replication (MS SQL to ORACLE) using Oracle GoldenGate software, creation of Extract, Replicat & monitoring process within OGG.
• Excellent SQL Server administration skills including Database Creation, Tables, Indexes and Clusters Creation.
• Experienced in writing T-SQL (DDL, DML, and DCL) statements.
• Experienced in DBA activities including Installing & maintaining SQL Server database system, Logical/Physical database design and administration, Backup & Recovery, Log Shipping, Database Mirroring, and Performance Tuning.
• Expertise in Platform issues like management operation issues (start/stop/delete/restart) of Azure SQL Database, quota issues, network issues, policy restrictions & resource locks.
• Strong understanding of RDBMS concepts as well as Data Modelling Concepts.
• Experience in implementing full, transaction log and differential backups.

• Competency in performance tuning and optimization techniques
• Diagnose database issues and taking corrective actions to ensure database availability
• Database capacity planning, upgrades and database migration
• Proficiency in database security and audit requirements
• Proficiency in Business continuity strategy and exercise

Oracle DB Skills

• 5+ years of experience in supporting Oracle RDBS.
• Experience in Oracle 11g/12C/19c.
• Handle Oracle Installations and Oracle Database upgrades in a single instance and Rac environments.
• Applying quarterly PSU / CPU patches
• Maintain and troubleshoot database health
• Identify and troubleshooting SQL performance problems
• Generate and analyze Statpack,AWR,ADDM,ASH and TKPROF reports and providing recommendations for performance improvement
• Create baseline for sql queries from Historical plans and managing execution plans across databases.
• Backup and restoration/recovery of database using RMAN and manual approach.
• Cloning/duplicate and troubleshooting database issues as needed.
• Configure Standby Databases & Active standby databases.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting Standby issues.
• DR Failover and Switchover.
• Hands on experience on up-gradation of Databases from 10g to 11g and from 11g to 12C. (single Instances and RAC)
• Installation of Agent and grid software. Troubleshooting grid and Agent related issues
• Export and Import data with Exp & Imp and EXPDP/IMPDP utilities.
• Experience in scheduling and troubleshooting jobs via Control-M tool.
• Create and monitoring table space / storage requirements.
• Perform online redefinitions on table to remove fragmentation.
• Create and managing database objects like tables, views, and indexes.
• Create profiles and attaching them with users and monitoring the users.
• Configure and manage backup & recoveries through RMAN utility.
• Perform offline and online backup & recoveries
• Knowledge of configuring ASM Disks & ASM database creation.
• Knowledge on RAC installation and monitoring RAC databases.
