Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Director of Medical Education and Training Services provides leadership, oversight, and ensures compliance with standards, rules, and regulations as related to all educational related activities in the hospital. This includes, but is not limited to, Student Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education (CME), Medical Staff Development, and Graduate Medical Education (GME). Also oversees the operations of the Clinical Skills Center and the Health Sciences Library. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and President of the Hospital.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Graduate Degree in Education, Business, Public Health, Organizational Development, Healthcare Administration. In
exceptional circumstances, uniquely qualified candidates who hold other education or experience may be considered, if all
competencies and qualifications are met. - Three to five years experience in health and academic/education management or related field.
Licensure:
- Fire Safety Card.
Special Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of medical education (Medical Students, Residents and Fellows), healthcare education and organizational development.
- Excellent organizational, motivational, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of knowledge/skill in marketing, business development, and financial accounting.
- Ability to effectively direct and manage the activities and staff in the Department to create innovative, cost effective educational interventions which cross multiple health care system boundaries/disciplines; to facilitate positive professional interaction between health care groups, SBMC departments, management team, and Dignity Health affiliates.
- High degree of initiative, enthusiasm, energy, judgment and professionalism.
- Highly skilled in communication (one-on-one and group) and in presentation and listening skills. Able to communicate well in written and spoken English.
- Must be able to attend teleconferences, meetings and offsite seminars/conferences.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and both independently and as part of a team.
Training:
- Organizational development and/or management training.
