    Purpose


    The Director of Secondary Education leads the district’s 6-12 programs and services to support the district’s goal of every student graduating from high school as college AND career ready. The Director develops a comprehensive curriculum, instruction and professional learning of school based pathways and programs to increase access and equitable opportunities to meet the needs of our students; business and community and work experiences that bring school leaders, community partners, and the district together to insure our students are future ready.


    Position Requirements:


    • Master’s degree in school leadership required - specialist or doctorate preferred.

    • At least three years experience in school leadership (principal/superintendent/district level leadership).

    • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures, regarding 6-12 education including career and technical education.

    • Skilled and knowledgeable in leading standards-based curriculum development, alignment and implementation through the use of data.

    • Knowledge of current educational principles, practices and procedures in program development, staff training, instruction and assessing program needs in secondary education.

    • Knowledge and experience of budgetary management.

    • Skill in communicating effectively with others including making oral and written presentations.

    • Is highly skilled and knowledgeable in leading standards-based curriculum development, alignment and implementation.

    • Has a keen ability to identify equitable and effective instruction and knows how to coach for improvement and address barriers.

    • Is able to develop systems in collaboration with colleagues to drive pk-12 coherence and equitable opportunities for students.

    • Has a proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources and systems to provide high-quality professional learning and leadership development on teaching and learning.
