Quick Supply Company is a family-owned business that began serving the construction industry in 1938 supplying explosives and offering blasting services to limestone quarries throughout the Midwest. Position Summary: Drillers and Blasters work closely together. Drillers move and operate mobile drilling machines to bore holes in open-pit mines and quarries, and to bore holes for blasting.

As a Driller, your duties may include some or all of the following:

• Driving and operating drilling machines to bore large blast holes in open-pit mines, quarries or on construction sites.
• Evaluates the current stability of the block or ledge
• Determines probable movement of the stone during the process
• Implements an appropriate fall prevention plan per safety guidelines
• Positions mobile power equipment in a safe location
• Obtains safe access to the working surface by properly placing and using a ladder
• Actively participate in safety meetings and adhering to all applicable safety regulations
• Uses all engineering control devices to reduce personal noise exposure levels
• Uses and maintains all dust control devices
• Sets the drill mast securely to assure straight quality holes
• Understands all control functions and gauge readouts
• Measuring locations and identifying holes to be drilled
• Handles drill rods of various lengths
• Uses basic math skills and accurately reads a tape measure
• Understands sonar hole locating equipment
• Maintains equipment per company standards
• Performs routine daily equipment maintenance and TPM scheduled services
• Understands equipment operators manual
• Completes customer billing tickets correctly and provides to central invoicing in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

• Walks/traverses, stands on rough terrain outdoors in extreme heat and below zero cold with wind, snow, and rain
• Climbs ladders, steps, and other elevated platforms
• Ability to lift 50lbs or more
• Bends frequently

Additional Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent plus appropriate experience is acceptable
• Minimum 1-year previous experience in the drilling industry (Preferred)
• Inexperienced Driller helpers Should Apply also - training available
• Valid Class A or B CDL
• DOT Hazmat Endorsements
• Obtains, if needed, an explosive handling clearance from the BATF
• Possess MSHA and OSHA certifications
• Great teamwork skills
• Must be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Ability to follow instructions and take direction

Compensation and Benefit Package:

• Starting wage $22-$28 per hour, and depending on experience & qualifications
