Location: Greenwood Village, CO

CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years’ experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.

We are seeking qualified electrical engineering and mechanical engineering candidates interested in supporting our clients achieve their energy management goals. Reducing energy and water consumption, improving reliability and resiliency, while increasing use of renewables, microgrids, and sustainability criteria are day-to-day activities associated with this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead energy engineering, analysis, and management activities undertaken on behalf of clients. Support the ongoing development of tools and resources for CLPE’s energy engineering efforts
  • Client drivers vary from sustainability to cost reduction to carbon reduction to compliance with organizational mandates. Support clients in realizing their energy management, climate stewardship, and sustainability goals.
  • Identify, plan, and design energy conservation opportunities for buildings, lighting, controls, heating and cooling, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Identify opportunities, perform evaluations, conduct preliminary design, and support implementation of onsite generation and storage systems.
  • Develop drawings, site plans, and schematics related to energy engineering activities.
  • Perform energy modeling, economical analysis, efficiency calculations, payback analyses.
  • Conduct field measurements, assessments, and verifications.
  • Evaluate construction design information such as plan drawings, schematics, design calculations, system layouts and sketches, or specifications.
  • Create and maintain various technical documents, standards, and reports.
  • Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in either Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited university.
  • Two-five (2-5) years' related engineering work experience
  • Coursework or work experience in sustainability, energy management, economics, and engineering-related business drivers.
  • Previous experience in lighting design, lighting controls, HVAC controls, SCADA, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure design preferred.
  • EIT with career goal of working towards PE licensure. Experience in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, BIM, or other engineering tools a plus.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar accreditation preferred.
  • Desirable: experience in the development and authorship of consulting reports, planning reports, energy audits, green building certification, water audits, or renewable energy assessments.
  • Comfortable working with variety of computer applications including MS Office suite
  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish.
  • Completion of OSHA 10-hour training will be required with field activity including both conditioned and non-conditioned areas within and outside buildings.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time exempt position. Office hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hybrid work schedule.

Travel:

  • Travel between job sites with 20-30% overnight travel expected.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • You must be a US citizen.
  • Ability to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Salary range: $74,000 - $104,000 annually based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
    • We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
