The Engineer, Manufacturing is responsible for the justification and approval of production tools and/or machines for BIUS production. This position develops solutions to production problems relating to materials, process, design, tooling, and machinery, and develops production controls and documents. This position also sets up new equipment, ensures satisfactory operation of the new equipment, and teaches employees to to use it properly. The position communicates with the production team on bill of material, warranty, repair, rework, and process issues.Duties and Responsibilities
Manufacturing Engineering
Review design changes and design change requests from factory and customer and determine how the design change affects BIUS systems and processes necessary to produce product
Create internal design change documents based on approved design change requests and share with the engineering team and production
Document temporary changes requested by customer, part substitutions, part shortages and other special process documentation including creating or modifying work instructions, bill of material and processes
Setup new production lines including equipment and ensure its satisfactory operation and assist with operator training
Prepare equipment and tools for production to produce product efficiently and at correct product run rate
Research, specify and purchase necessary tools and equipment for production processes
Study line balance, conduct time studies and document standard times for processes
Assist production in improving efficiency and quality of product
Quality
Lead Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) activities for assigned products
Lead 5 whys and root cause analysis and help determine corrective actions for product defects and customer complaints
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 3 years Experience in a manufacturing facility working with a wide range of employees on production introductions and changes
- Minimum 1 year Experience in manufacturing methods and procedures as well as manufacturing quality
Software/Technical Skills
- Ability to use measuring and testing equipment Intermediate
- MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge and familiarity of Auto CAD/Fusion 360 Basic
- Continuous improvement and 5S knowledge and experience
Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to interact expertly at multiple levels of employees
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and unforeseen events
- Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production issues
- Initiative and ability to work effectively with little direction and/or few guidelines
- Ability to visualize and comprehend all aspects of manufacturing equipment, parts problems, and tooling
- Understand the interrelationships of factors affecting a given engineering situation
