RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) seeks a growth-oriented Electrical Engineer to become an integral part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in White Bear Lake, MN. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff in the development of an on-highway, electric vehicle.

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration, with the opportunity for professional growth, direct hire by our customers, and more opportunities within our organization.

Summary: The Electric Vehicle Engineer will be responsible for electric vehicle development activities including high voltage systems, battery systems, control systems, autonomous capability integration, as well as serving as a technical subject matter expert for programs that may involve electric vehicles or vehicle components. This position provides a critical function within our team, developing solutions from concept through production.

Primary Duties:

  • Develop vehicle architectures from system conceptual level to component selection and integration.
  • Serve as a technical expert on batteries, charging, and drive components in electric vehicles.
  • Serve as a technical resource for advanced drive capabilities including tele-operated and fully autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable standards including AutoSar, FMVSS, and electric charging standards.
  • Identify and present opportunities for growth in team capabilities.
  • Technically execute project work including development of charging architectures, electric drive architectures, control schemes, and software requirements development.
  • Test and approve/disapprove products electrical systems
  • Oversee electrical test procedures including ensuring test technicians are properly trained and perform electrical testing correctly.
  • Designing reliable product tests, checking product wiring, and validating functionality of new electric operations.
  • Creating reports and product designs; and submitting them to engineering management for review and approval.
  • Participate in the final installation of the electrical system and all installation documentation as well as user manuals.
  • Work cross-functionally including with software engineers, system engineers, products managers.


Qualifications/Experience
:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with electric vehicles and electric vehicle systems development required.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 26262 Road Vehicles Functional Safety
  • Experience with hands-on integration and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Professionalism, effective communication skills, organization, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel if needed.
