Interco has an opening for a Freight Broker/Transportation Scheduler in the Trucking & Logistics department

The Freight Broker/Transportation Scheduler books inbound and outbound freight - primarily dry vans, flatbeds, and dump trailers - throughout North America in and out of the Interco facility. This key team member is responsible for negotiating the best possible transportation rates with trucking companies and freight carriers and ensuring the loads are picked up and delivered on time.

The right candidate must have at least three years of experience either as a freight broker or a freight coordinator for a manufacturer or 3PL. This is not a logistics coordinator or freight scheduler position. This job requires previous experience – the only training that will provided will be how to follow the Interco guidelines and system.

Experience working with freight and trucking companies is mandatory. The ability to negotiate the best rates is critical to this position. Candidates without direct recent experience in this capacity need not apply.

The position requires someone who is very detail-oriented with exceptional time-management and organizational skills. This person communicates well on the telephone, via email, and in person with fellow staff members. The right candidate will take great pride providing excellent service to both the customers and suppliers of Interco.

Responsibilities Include:

• Coordinate ground transportation by truck - van trailer, flatbed, dump trailer
• Negotiate freight rates and ensure pickup and delivery times are met
• Prepare bills of lading and dangerous goods documents
• Work with customers and suppliers to ensure timely transportation
• Maintain document integrity and schedules
• Communicate with suppliers and customers to arrange pickups and deliveries
• Review invoices for loads scheduled and compare with rate promised to ensure accuracy on both ends

• 3+ years of freight brokerage and logistics experience
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot situations as they arise
• Must be naturally driven to produce high quality results with great care
• Desire to put the company’s needs first and do whatever it takes to get the job done
• Must thrive in a fast-faced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
• Experience working with ERP and/or CRM preferred
• Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
