ABOUT THE ROLE
The General Accountant, under the direction of the Senior Accountant, ensures the completion of accounting activities.
This is a hybrid position with the expectation to go onsite in Markham 1-2 times per week.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet account analysis and reconciliations
- Support, maintain, and develop accounting systems
- Responsible for the accurate and timely entry and analysis of financial information for the company
- Analyzes variances to determine cause
- Participate in the year-end audit and review processes
- Assist in the development of reporting requirements as requested by Corporate Managers
- Contribute to implementing projects and process improvements in the department
- Act as a supporting contact and work with the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and Financial Analysis teams
- Assist with the implementation and enhancement of month-end closing procedures
- Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities
- Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System
- Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel
- Complete other tasks as requested
Job Qualification
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting
- Working towards CPA designation
- Two (2) years of related accounting experience, with a proven track record in month-end close, balance sheet analysis and spreadsheet usage
- Strong working knowledge of Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to take leadership in special projects
- Proven ability to meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail
- Strong commitment to continued learning
