Job Summary:
The General Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operational management of Plant Prefab’s factory locations in in Tejon Ranch and Rialto, CA. Individual will provide strategic leadership and direction to all factory employees and departments to ensure achievement of safety, quality, schedule, cost, and project delivery goals. The General Manager will report to the President.
Core Responsibilities:
- Expertly coordinate and execute projects, on time and on budget and direct operations to achieve OKRs and financial targets.
- Ensure that appropriate processes and controls are in place to identify, manage and monitor business opportunities and risks.
- Implement 5S principles and ensure all operations conform to the company’s safety and quality policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct fact-based analysis using lean techniques to create value, promote flow, eliminate waste, and improve variable cost productivity.
- Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, planning, and scheduling to support growth and customer demand.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and cadence for daily management Gemba walks and team MDI (Management Daily Improvement).
- Establish and maintain visual management for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity, and key process indicators (KPIs).
- Develop annual operating and staffing plans for the manufacturing plant.
- Provide education and development opportunities to strengthen overall organizational capabilities.
- Implement and execute an industry leading quality control and sustainability program.
- Ensure the organization is positioned for future activities through effective communication, employment, training and development, succession planning and performance management.
- Ensure that operational activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure that appropriate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are developed, implemented, practiced, and enforced within code standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar field is preferred
- Strong working knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Demonstrated experience leading kaizen events with 5S/6S, TPM, SMED/Set-up Reduction, Standard Work, Kanban, etc.)
- 10+ years of manufacturing and/or engineering experience with strong preference for modular/prefabricated experience.
- 5+ year of experience with full plant and operations responsibility
- Minimum of 5 years of proven operational leadership experience
- Ability to analyze inefficiencies and problems; identify root causes and provide effective solutions
- Proven ability to interact, communicate, and contribute to all levels of the organization
- Experienced knowledge of building codes, regulations, and labor laws
- Strong ability to train and lead new employees
- Capable of creating a positive teamwork-oriented environment
- Excellent time mange skills with ability to keep everyone on task to meet production goals
