Danfoss Power Solutions (DPS), a global leader in mobile and industrial hydraulics and electrification solutions, is seeking a Global Channel Events Manager to manage complex customer facing events, leading all planning activities including but not limited to: venue sourcing and selection, vendor management, contract management, run-of-show, creative materials, themes/décor, menu development, room layouts, registration, printing and design of materials, budget management and post event recap reports. Danfoss is seeking candidates in Minnesota as this role will spend time in the office collaborating with the rest of the Team.
As Global Channel Events Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Director of Channel Excellence in the Power Solutions segment of Danfoss. You will partner closely with colleagues in DPS Sales, Communications, Engineering and Product Divisions, to ensure flawless planning and execution of in-person and virtual events to drive accelerated business growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Actively manage and execute customer facing events/meetings (excluding large Trade Shows) for Danfoss Power Solutions. Own every aspect of an event, from venue choice to success metrics. Including all event set-up, tear-down, and follow-up processes. Events in scope are (not limited to): Danfoss Distributor Meeting (DDM), Danfoss Distributor Advisory Council (DDAC), National Hose Association for Hose and Accessories Distributors (NAHAD), Key Accounts Quarterly Distributor Meetings.
- Support and collaborate with the Global Trade Show Manager in planning and execution of logistics associated to industry Trade Shows such as Conexpo, Agritechnica, Bauma
- Actively manage events budget, creating reliable financial reports while remaining within or under budget with all expenses. Manage department accrual, PO / credit card process and process invoices.
- Responsible for the event audio-visual production in collaboration with marketing communications function.
- Work with cross-functional internal teams: Sales (OEM, Distribution, Channel Excellence), Sales Innovation, Commercial Operations, Communications, Marketing, Training, Engineering, etc. to coordinate planning activities, drive internal engagement and accountability, maximizing customer experience satisfaction.
- Proactively engage with event steering committees comprised of senior level leadership team to coordinate their participation in the objective setting and planning processes, and to communicate and optimize the impact of event activities
- Facilitate contracts with hotel and outside vendors for the event, managing the contract process and liaison with Danfoss Legal Teams
- Maintain up-to-date and working knowledge on technology platforms, design, and production trends, proactively identifying and solving operational challenges in events
- Ensure regular event-related knowledge and best practice sharing among internal and external teams. Assess event's overall success and submit findings.
Background & Skills
- Strong project management skills
- Understanding of key business metrics that drive events
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to make presentations to groups of various sizes and levels of authority within the internal and external organization
- Memberships / Relationships with industry associations / bodies for Events Management
- Trained and proficient in estimating techniques, negotiating, contracting, scheduling, and pricing in alignment with company policies and capabilities.
- Strong cross-cultural collaboration and communication competencies
- Self-starter who can demonstrate creative and critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills in an ambiguous environment
- Creative problem-solving and excellent analytical skills
- Drive for results and getting things done, ability to work under pressure, manage last-minute requests and shifting priorities with skill and professionalism while meeting deadlines
- Work in fast-paced, high-volume environment; anticipate changes in conditions and operations to the greatest extent possible and react to these appropriately.
- Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality management, public relations, marketing, communication, advertising, or any other similar career
- 8 to 10 years of event planning or event management experience
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred
