Givens Estates is a nonprofit life plan community in Asheville NC, with 500+ independent living residents that want to age with choices and remain in their home, where they're most comfortable. As a Home Care RN Supervisor, you'll have the opportunity to get to know your clients one-on-one, helping them live a healthy, happy and safe life at home. We'll expect you to help ensure the highest degree of quality care is provided to our residents, maintaining compliance with all current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Currently, we're looking for RNs to support us as PRN and with flexibility to potentially support both our Asheville campus as well as our Black Mountain campus, and with availability to work evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans for home care clients, always with the 'whole person' in mind to meet their specific needs
- Address physical, psychosocial, emotional, educational, spiritual, or transitional care needs of independent living residents, working collaboratively with your wider team
- While on shift, help manage admissions and treatments for Home Care clients, while also responding to emergency pendant calls with care and commitment
- In Home Nursing Care will depend on the client, with a wide range of services provided – from medication management to catheter care to nail clipping to wellness visits etc. – we'll expect you to care with compassion, care, commitment and collaboration
- Always care in a manner that reflects respect for your client's rights, dignity, values, preferences, and expressed needs, understanding and upholding the Declaration of Home Care Clients' Rights
- Assist with supervising LPNs and CNAs as needed, e.g. conducting supervisory visits
- Support both your clients and their families with understanding Home Care, their care plan, and any changes to their condition or services as relevant and appropriate
- Manage / support the med cart for Home Care clients, while maintaining accurate chart documentation in applicable software
- Understand the 'aging with choices' framework and how Home Care fits into the wider picture of our Life Plan Communities, always aiming to help residents remain at home if safe to do so
- Demonstrate collaboration by consulting with peers, supervisors and medical staff when necessary and appropriate, always maintaining confidentiality and privacy of PHI per HIPAA requirements
- Always be accountable for the management of drugs and therapeutic procedures as prescribed by medical staff, always remaining within scope of your licensure and our Home Care license
- Help guide team members, delegate tasks and support with new member orientation, as discussed with the Home Care leadership team
- Communicate pertinent information regarding residents and/or management in an accurate and timely manner, where appropriate
- Actively participate, provide input, and support department and campus-wide meetings as relevant to Home Care
- Utilize the nursing process as reflected in use of admission history and assessment, nursing care plans, discharge planning and evaluation techniques
- Actively participate and accept personal responsibility to ensure the success of the Corporate Compliance Program
- Always practice safety and infection control methods
- Protect yourself with proper transfer and lift techniques
- Always strive to provide a safe environment for yourself, residents and fellow team members
- Participate in ongoing education and training offered by Givens and/or outside resources as required
- Practice safety by observing the Nursing Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses and all other applicable policies and procedures
- Always practice within your scope of training, license and certification, whilst also adhering to all relevant and applicable policies and procedures
- Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisor
Qualified candidates will have:
- An unencumbered Registered Nursing license in the State of North Carolina is required
- Must have no evidence of exclusion on the OIG Registry
- Prior experience in long-term care, home care or working with older adults is preferred
- Must possess a working knowledge of computer systems and software packages
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work without direct supervision
- Strong nursing assessment skills and follow through with the nursing process
- Must be dependable, accurate, thorough, tactful, courteous and a team player
Compensation: $37.50-$41.50 per hour, based on experience
