SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Assistant will perform administrative duties related to the operations of the human resource office in areas including but not limited to, general HR support and file maintenance, recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration. The HR Assistant is the first point of contact for new applicants as well as employees and visitors doing business in the HR Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports employment processes by processing background screenings, employment documents, asset provisioning, and asset deprovisioning.
- Processes required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters.
- Compiles, updates, and maintains employee records ensuring that filing is accurate and required documents are up to date.
- Maintains and orders general office supplies and ensures supply of employee support materials are available.
- Ensure compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.
- Processes tuition waiver and tuition exchange applications for employees. Initiates approval process, conducts tracking and follow-up, and communicates outcome to employee.
- Coordinates employee recognition, holiday social, wellness events, and new hire orientation.
- May assist with preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports..
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to senior-level Human Resources staff or management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- Two years of human resources administration experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and MS Teams.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and follow all applicable employment laws.
- Customer service orientation is essential for this role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of HR and Payroll related information systems (i.e., ADP) preferred.
- Prior experience working in a university setting preferred
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
