Description of Position:
The Instructional Designer will work with Training and People Development subject matter experts to design and develop instructor-led training material to support our operational strategic initiatives and University programs. Specialized writing skills are required using the latest adult learning techniques; such as simultaneous virtual and live classroom training as well as a variety of other learning technologies including gamification, mobile learning and performance support, to improve retention of information and application of learned skills and behaviors.
Organizational Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Manager, Learning Design and Development
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Design blended learning solutions to support business objectives. Working with the learning and operations teams to create the right blend of learning methods to produce the desired performance outcome
- Develop and write facilitator, participant guides, job aids and performance support, etc. for live and virtual instructor-led training
- Partner with eLearning instructional designer, and/or vendors as needed on eLearning projects and incorporating other learning technologies
- Update/redesign/re-write all current training material to incorporate new leadership and operational content.
Additional Job responsibilities:
- Write training design documents, project-manage the work, support training logistics of learning events, and other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communication, Writing, Education, Instructional Design or the equivalent.
- 10 years Instructional Design experience
- At least one proven successful project designing simultaneous virtual and live instructor-led training
- Must meet company’s minimum requirement for employment
- Valid state driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Automotive instructional design experience preferred but not required
- Basic eLearning instructional design and experience; i.e. Adobe eLearning Suite proficiency
- Experience effectively utilizing gamification in learning to improve results
