Inventory Control Supervisor
Develop, create, delegate, and manage the key performance indicators (KPI’s) associated with maintenance of perpetual and physical inventory process to ensure that inventory balances remain reconciled between WMS (perpetual inventory system for General Ledger) and EMS (perpetual system for automation equipment).
- Perform root cause analysisto determine inventory discrepancy issues, research and create alternative procedures and policies to implement to prevent issues.
- Analyze inventory imbalances that could not be resolved by inventory clerks, leads or supervisors to improve integrity.
- Evaluate WMS and EMS systemsto best assist all areas of the operation to include but not limited to Receiving, Warehousing and Shipping.
- Continually evaluate and optimize systems settings (e.g. min/max quantities, each pick vs. case pick) and processes to account for volume changes due to seasonality, business changes and trends.
- Continually evaluate and optimize inventory balances within all areas of the warehouse, including areas within the automated warehousing system, to ensure that warehouse automation equipment is performing at optimal levels.
- Apply advanced interpersonal and communication skills to motivate the workforce, relay growth opportunities and drive execution of policies/procedures and implement corrective measures if necessary to ensure productivity levels are met.
- Manage, lead, and motivate associates to achieve department and organization objectives by establishing appropriate goals and targets, allocating and directing staff and resources, analyzing and measuring performance and fostering professional development.
- Analyze the company’s key performance indicators (KPI’s) to develop functional and departmental protocols, policies, forecast employment needs and trends and create budgets; operate within budget and allocated resources.
- Apply high level conflict resolution and negotiation skills to interactions with multi levels of company personnel and 3rd party vendors; apply communication skills to interactions with employees; resolve inventory discrepancies and communicate with multi operational levels.
- Generate, use and document standard or ad-hoc reports to monitor operations, research failure activity, report on objectives, throughputs and KPI’s.
- Communicate and address concerns and issues from other departments, supervisors, and customers (internal and external).
- Identify, research, and implement new procedures and protocols for process improvement.
- Ensure SOX compliance is met for inventory including but not limited to cycle counts,inventory adjustments, manual sales orders, etc.
- Lead records and retention process for entire DC.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of inventory, materials management and/or supply chain experience
- Experience with inventory management statistical methodologies
- Experience with ERP and inventory management software
- Experience with WMS and the management of perpetual/physical inventory
- Experience in managing a large number of SKU’s.
- 3+ years of supervisor experience
- Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, maintain the expected work pace and meet the minimum productivity guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of financial metrics associated with inventory.
- Advanced MS Office programs experience (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access) is required.
- EXE experience is preferred; WMS experience is required. EMS and SQL knowledge a plus.
- Previous experience with slot picking program is required.
- Understand product recall procedures and reporting.
- Understand and follow protocols for developing/updating accurate and proper documentation.
- Advanced analytic skills for resolving inventory disputes or errors; application of root cause analysis to prevent future discrepancies.
- Advanced skill with Excel for inventory research, analysis, monitoring and resolving perpetual inventory discrepancies.
- Advanced math skills to perform data analysis, create and operate within budgets and track and report on inventory and KPI’s.
- High level conflict resolution, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
- Physical Environment
- Exposed to dry, refrigerated and freezer areas of a warehouse and may be exposed to one environment for periods of time.
- The facility is a 24/7 operation and requires flexibility in shift hours and/or weekend days to complete job duties.
- Stands or walks for extended periods of time.
- Bending, stooping, and twisting are required periodically.
- Workdays can be fast paced; some evening and weekend work may be required.
