Compensation:
Annual Salary Range: $53,414 - $60,008
Hourly Pay Range: $25.68 - $28.85
Note: Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.
Position Summary: The Kansas Highway Patrol is looking for an energetic, creative, team-focused leader to guide our IT Help Desk Support Section. As a member of the Senior IT Staff reporting to the Information Systems Manager, this individual work includes planning and developing policy recommendations, guidance and consultation in the support and operation of the KHP PC’s, laptops, MDU’s and PDA’s, and their associated services and connectivity requirements surrounding secure access to law enforcement information state-wide. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma and three years advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment, with one years in a leadership capacity.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Technical expertise should include a firm understanding of various network elements, such as: Assigns, supervises and prioritizing help desk calls and user upgrade requests, and end user project requirements and deliverables. Researches, evaluates, recommends technology applications and upgrades relating to desktop support. User platform (single user) – Oversee help desk operations, review trouble areas, proactively allocate resources. Information: data capture, processing and delivery, application software, web services, architecture, project management, VPN and TCP/ IP Client configurations. Enterprise Security: application security, firewalls, netmotion, intrusion detection, desktop protection, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Adware support and user authorization application access. Team development and collaborative engagement
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Licensing: Valid Driver’s License
Certifications: One or more computer certifications demonstrating infrastructure capability. Examples include: MCSA, Network +, A+, IT Project Management.
Minimum Qualifications – REQUIRED: Three years advising & assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment. Training in information technology skills at an advanced level. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent understanding of server/network/LAN/WAN configuration of Microsoft systems and knowledge of information security concepts. Strong knowledge of IT concepts. Ability to frequently lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand, stoop, bend, crawl in confined spaces, drive a vehicle, and climb ladders.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred: One year of experience supervising a group of employees.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must submit to and pass a thorough background investigation to include fingerprints, security clearance (no felony record).
