Lien Specialist Job Description

Confirms final client balances on any and all liens for treatment related to their claim. Confirms final child support liens and liens for pre-settlement loans. This position reports first to the Senior Liens Paralegal, then the Liens & Demands Manager, and then to the Personal Injury Staff Manager. In short, this role ensures that whatever bills the client may incur during their case will be attended to/brought to its lowest point. We want to make sure insurance providers have the client’s insurance info on file so their bills can be processed properly. If there are any issues along the way we contact the client(s), insurance & healthcare providers, & billing reps as necessary.

Objectives of this role:

  • Confirm all balances for medical providers
  • Secure all public and private liens (ERISA, Medicaid, Medicare, etc)
  • Resolve any issues that may be delaying finalization of liens
  • Send lien reduction requests to providers
  • Call health insurance companies and healthcare providers
  • Send necessary Letters of Representation
  • Communicate issues with client when appropriate
  • Assist client with sending documentation to providers and insurers when needed
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school or GED education, Associate’s Degree preferred
  • REQUIRED Must be proficient in MS Office programs/using a computer.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; Customer Service skills are preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Able to critically think & problem solve.
  • Able to manage time effectively as to attend to as many tasks as directed to work on independently with minimal supervision.
  • High level of professionalism.
  • REQUIRED Must be able to multitask.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in all interactions.
  • Ability to comprehend and perform basic math skills
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadline requirements;
  • PREFERRED Typing speed of at least 65 wpm.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $35,000.00 per year

Schedule:
