The Oliver Companies is looking for a highly talented Logistics manager that will be responsible for the planning and executing of materials to distribution centers and customers to coincide with sales and manufacturing. This position will work directly with suppliers externally and internally to ensure on time delivery while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages. This position is in Hohenwald, TN.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research to become familiar with what routes, back hauls, vendors, customers, software and loading trucks are available as well as their costs and benefits.
  • Improve current processes, with a goal of a 10% savings.
  • Keep detailed records and prepare and submit necessary reports.
  • Track costs to determine trends to improve processes, such as fuel, transportation, cost, etc.
  • Evaluate logistics methods to reduce environmental impact.
  • Maintain professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor hot orders or past due orders and initiate expediting as needed.
  • Participate in periodic physical inventory.
  • Review production schedule for adjustments in sales orders and adjust shipping as needed.
  • Generally, works in an office environment but is also required to perform job duties in typical manufacturing setting and assisting in all jobs that you will be managing. i.e., forklift, loading trucks, dispatching routes.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services to meet the sales requirements of the company employing such techniques but not limited to JIT, Kanban, contracting trucking/logistics, and reschedules.
  • Set-up and maintain planning system data in the ERP system.
  • Establish goals and objectives that support the department and company objectives. Follow up on objectives to ensure compliance.
  • Take on special assignments as warranted, such as projects related to logistics software, fuel contracts, strategic partnership with vendors.
  • Develop, Implement and Support sourcing and supplier management initiatives.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery, lead-time, etc., with suppliers.
  • Forklift experience
  • Willing to travel to other Oliver locations for training purposes (other locations include Lake City, Florida and Keene, Texas)

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in a Logistics and Operations Field, BA equivalent, certification, or relevant work experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in material handling and planning in a manufacturing setting
  • Extensive knowledge of products and materials
  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems
  • Strong and written communications skills; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter and be able to work under ambiguity
  • Must be organized and able to balance multiple priorities appropriately
  • Must be goal-focused and committed to completing task.
  • Detail-orientated, highly motivated, patient and diligent
  • Analytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices, fuel, routes, cube out loads, and quantities and consider LTL vendor contract terms
  • Ability to evaluate market conditions and various trucking companies.
  • Extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: able to identify problems, solve them, and show good judgement by isolating cause, compiling information and solutions
  • Responsiveness: take action to meet the needs of others, respond timely without supervision, and minimize delays
  • Professionalism: accepts responsibility for actions, reacts well under pressure, follows through on commitments, and demonstrates consistency between words and actions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
