Main position objectives

The Material Handler/Assembler’s main job is to make sure that materials are picked and issued to assembly production floor. The primary focus with this position is to maintain the continuous flow of parts needed between the warehouse and the manufacturing areas. When there is no material handling work, the material handler/assembler will join the assembly team in assemblies of large machinery which includes Pumps, Screen Changers, Pulverizers and Pelletizers.

Position description – Tasks, Responsibilities, Competencies

· Responsible for picking parts from the warehouse, issue the parts in the ERP system and deliver the parts to the assembly cells and/or staging area

· Responsible for working closely with the assembly manager to understand projects being scheduled on the production floor to prepare for part movements

· Responsible for the Kanban cards and process in designated areas.

· Work closely with Planner/Expeditor, Assembly manager and Warehouse manager on part shortages and un-available inventory.

· Responsible to use FIFO material handling (First In First Out).

· Maintain and apply 5S and Lean concepts in designated areas.

· Reads and interprets assembly drawings, blueprints, Bills of Materials and production orders.

· Support different assembly areas by building sub-assemblies and providing general assembly work using hand-tools and power tools

· Support pump repair station when workload is heavy

· Ability to perform quality work while multi-tasking between several projects simultaneously

Job Specification

Mandatory

High School Diploma or GED required

Desirable

Mechanical aptitude and experience with a general understanding of basic mechanics or millwright hand tool use.

Professional experience (description incl. No. of years)

Mandatory · Must be able to obtain a tow motor license and operate all tow motors within the plant. · Proficient in math skills and scale operations.

Desirable

· SAP experience

· Experience in an inventory control or process flow of a manufacturing environment preferred.

· Proficient in using a computer and data-based systems preferred.
