QUESTIONS
The Meter Reader role involves field and office work in reading water meters and recording and evaluating water consumption. Training for this role will be provided. Primary duties include reading of water meters on an assigned route and recording readings, and checking functionality of meters.
Performs related work as required.
- Ability to gain knowledge of the geography, and navigate street locations, of the County.
- Ability to write legibly.
- Ability to make simple arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public.
- Ability to accurately use a handheld processor and a tough book computer to record meter information.
- Training will be provided.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Constantly, required to bend, stoop, squat, and walk from 8-15 miles per day in all types of weather. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
