Description
SAIC is currently looking for a systems engineer to provide technical advisory support to the US Space Force Space Systems Center Space Sensing Directorate (SSC/SN). SSC/SN acquires Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Weather space systems to support military and intelligence community users. This position provides guidance and technical support to SSC/SNWT for new and ongoing acquisition and development efforts through the Tools Applications and Processing (TAP) Lab in Boulder, CO in support of OPIR data exploitation in the Overhead Persistent Infrared Battlespace Awareness Center (OBAC) at Buckley Space Force Base, CO. The successful candidate will function as an OPIR operations subject matter expert (SME) and the liaison between OBAC operations and TAP Lab system development initiatives, spanning the entire development lifecycle, including concepts, requirements, design, development, test/validation, and transition to operations. The systems engineer will interface with development contractors and military customers and provide recommendations to the Government for all program activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs System Engineering activities based on sound engineering practices
- Performs User Engagement activities to solicit end user focus areas and needs, translate inputs into contract requirements
- Develop strategic roadmap for desired data exploitation projects; support the development of projects and work with Government team to develop post-development plans
- Performs Systems Engineering activities including equirements definition, acquisition strategy and RFP development, concept of operations formulation, analysis and engineering, validation and verification, systems integration, system & operational performance analysis, Lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA)
- Assist government in testing and evaluation of data exploitation projects at the Tools, Applications and Processing (TAP) Laboratory and assist in project assessment for follow-on deployment at the OPIR Battlespace Awareness Center (OBAC) based on project success and mission utility for end users
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Clearance level: DoD Top Secret with ability to acquire TS/SCI.
- Bachelors (STEM) and twelve (12) years or more of related experience.
- Alternatives:
- Masters and ten (10) years or more of related experience.
- PhD or JD and seven (7) years or more of related experience.
- Experience with Space/Air Force Missile Warning, Missile Tracking/Characterization, and/or Missile Defense
- DoD Acquisition and/or demonstrated experience accelerating software project development, integration, and deployment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in a systems engineering and technical support (SETA) role
