Acclaim Health announces the availability of an Established Part Time Personal Support Worker position working Mornings at Patty’s Place. The Individual will then be required to work 7 shifts bi-weekly from 7:00am – 12:30pm including every other weekend. As an Established Part Time, the individual will be required to work 37.5 hours in a bi-weekly period including Stat Holiday rotations.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

· Provides homemaking and personal support services to individuals in shared care facility..

· Provides personal care and activities of daily living to clients

· Performs delegated tasks as directed and trained by a Care Manager, Health Services

· Assists with meal preparation and feeding as required.

· Assists/engages in therapeutic recreation and activities as appropriate during the client’s stay in the overnight service area

· Communicates changes in client condition or other complex situations to the Respite Coordinator

· Documents information pertinent to the client’s stay in overnight respite service.

· Effectively utilizes recognized GPA principles, communication and behaviour management strategies for working with persons with dementia

· Works in a manner that ensures client safety

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

· Personal Support Worker Certificate

· Registered on the Ontario PSW Registry

· Medication Administration course (will be provided)

· Food Handling Certification (will be provided)

· Certification in Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care (will be provided)

· Valid Ontario driver’s license, use of vehicle and insurance per the company policy.

· Certification in Basic First aid including certification in CPR-Basic Rescuer.

· 1 to 2 years of experience working in gerontology and working with cognitively impaired persons

· Understanding and knowledge of dementia and age-related experiences.

Salary Range $17.68 - $19.44 per hour PLUS $3.00 extra per hour PANDEMIC WAGE ENHANCEMENT
