Job Description Summary

The Planner Scheduler will plan and prepare production schedules for the manufacturing of industrial and commercial products. The Planner Scheduler reports to the Master Scheduler.

The duties and responsibilities of the position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Draws up production schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet in stock dates as determined by the inventory stocking plan
  • Reviews part stocking plans on an as needed basis to ensure service requirements are met in conjunction with inventory control specifications
  • Is responsible for maintaining inventory levels for assigned value streams
  • Maintains planning data in the Knape & Vogt planning system
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of the current schedule and optimization of the upcoming schedule
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepares production reports
  • Prepares purchase orders to obtain materials
  • Expedites purchased materials as required
  • Participates in new product development launch activities as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Work Experience: 2 years of related work experience in planning
  • Education: Associates Degree
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively across a diverse customer-base; good verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills with ability to deal with individuals at all levels, both inside and outside the organization
  • Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job ; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disability to perform the essential functions; While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear and use fingers and hands
  • Physical Environment: Normal office environment; manufacturing and warehouse environment and exposure to moving equipment
