Essential Functions of the position are detailed below, and include any physical requirements below that.- Manages WIC procurement projects including purchasing, contracting, sourcing, and commodity management in partnership with colleagues in procurement, warehouse, and logistics.
- Oversees Farmers Market program for WIC-eligible mothers, infants, and children -- ensuring that families can access produce in partnership with local farms. Develop and contract with vendors, partner with perishable manager on scheduling of products, conduct trainings for WIC Center staff on program implementation. Accountable for budget planning and management and contract compliance.
- Proactive regarding food safety, establishing, monitoring and supporting systems to meet Critical Control Points. Continually ensures food safety and handling practices in the warehouse and transport are up to date and impeccably maintained.
- Supports the Perishable Manager and Warehouse Director with conducting ongoing reviews of current product lines and proposes new product lines in response to client demand.
- Working closely with State EBT Coordinator, ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines. Assisting with state approval process, entering product documentation into program systems and educating staff on new food products.
- Works independently and consistently exercises discretion and sound judgment in the performance of job duties. Handles a wide array of administrative tasks to ensure compliance with agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing or accrediting bodies in the course of performing job expectations. Attend or facilitate staff trainings, as needed.

- Responsible for maintaining, updating and submitting routine and ad-hoc reports, as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements: Relevant Education:
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
Licensure: Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian in the State of Illinois; required to obtain RD or LDN credentials within one year of hire.
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree
Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health required, Master's Degree Food and Nutrition, Community Nutrition or Public Health preferred
Relevant Experience:
Preferred: 2 Years
Subject Matter Expert knowledge of the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Program, particularly benefit eligibility, certification, benefit redemption, technical assistance, and eligible items.
General understanding of procurement and supply chain to ensure a consistent delivery of goods.
Grasp of negotiation techniques and price points for similar products.
Ability to problem solve to ensure the product and suppler meet the needs of the program.
Minimum: 1 year
Experience in food service management and/or community nutrition
Certification/Licensure:
Preferred: Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian in the State of Illinois;
Minimum: Ability to obtain RD or LDN credentials within one year of hire.
