Junior Achievement of the Triad is hiring! We are seeking a Full-time Program Coordinator to join our Programming Team to support educators by recruiting community volunteers who can share their own personal and professional experiences with students across the Triad. Volunteers are trained to teach classroom-based or virtual programs that help students make the connection between what they are learning in school and what they will need to succeed in work and life. JA programs are centered around three pillars: financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship.

The Program Coordinator is essential to developing key community relationships that are the catalyst for others’ commitment to our mission: to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

Job Responsibilities

Teamwork

  • Participates in projects, tasks, meetings, and workplace interactions with enthusiasm while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to pitch in to help team members succeed (even in areas outside their normal role).
  • Shares a commitment to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion internally and through work with schools and community partners.

District Wide Support

  • Aid the Director of Programming in maintaining relationships, scheduling, implementation of programs, volunteer recruitment and training, and verification of programs across all school districts.
  • Take on a leadership role in the development and implementation of JA Inspire.
  • Take on a leadership role in the development and maintenance of Google Sites.

Program Management

  • Learn in-person, kit-based program content (K-12th grade) and delivery methods to explain them to educators and volunteers.
  • Learn virtual program content (K-12th grade) and delivery methods to explain them to educators and volunteers.
  • Support Career Speaker Series through brainstorming topics, recruiting, and preparing volunteers, moderating sessions, and support school implementation.
  • Support JA Inspire Virtual Career Fair questions from teachers at schools throughout the areas served in the Triad.
  • Attend webinars and trainings with JA USA and other area offices to maintain understanding of new and existing JA learning experiences.
  • Enthusiastically seek to meet program expansion goals while assuring adherence to JA program models.
  • Work with other Program Coordinators to maintain inventory of program kits and to deliver kits to schools and volunteers within your assigned territory.
  • Willingness to teach JA classroom programs in-person or virtually as needed to ensure goals are met.
  • Actively work to balance school support and volunteer management, including accommodations based on funding, various environments, schedules, and needs.
  • Ensure program verification is completed by volunteer/educator.

School Support

  • Responsible for programs (in-person and/or virtually) in a territory comprised of elementary, middle, and high schools in Alamance, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, and Rockingham counties.
  • Territories will be split equitably amongst Program Coordinators (FT & PT), based on a balance of the number of programs, number of schools, and travel time to those schools.
  • Conduct meetings with principals annually to share program options and determine implementation schedule.
  • Conduct follow up conversations to determine schedule, number of classrooms, and volunteers needed to implement programs.
  • Develop and conduct trainings with educators at each school so they understand the program, what they should expect of their volunteers, and how they can support their volunteers.
  • Be at the school to support volunteers and educators during in-person JA in a Day programs.
  • Randomly audit in-person JA programs that are delivered one session at a time over multiple weeks.
  • Support educator stewardship and communication strategies.
  • Ensure program verification is completed by volunteer/educator.

Volunteer Management

  • Focus on relationship-building to meaningfully engage community and company volunteers who are volunteering for the first time or seeking to grow their impact.
  • Proactively recruit volunteers by networking, participating in, and presenting at community functions such as Chamber events, service clubs, company staff meetings, etc.
  • Develop and conduct trainings with individual volunteers and companies so they understand the school, the program they will be teaching, classroom management, and how they can support the students.
  • Maximize impact by coordinating the placement and scheduling of volunteers.
  • Support volunteer stewardship and communication strategies.
  • Support JA’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion by developing a volunteer cohort that mirrors the students serve.
  • Ensure program verification is completed by volunteer/educator.

Fundraising

  • Seek opportunities to convert volunteer service into philanthropy and vice versa.
  • Maintain a portfolio of companies who invest in JA programs as a component of their volunteer service.

Systems

  • Eagerly learn our database (BCRM) and accurately input data regularly to maintain records of correspondence with all stakeholders.
  • Learn additional JA USA platforms - Teams, Intranet, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Collaborate with Programming Team to maintain program Google Sites.
  • Stay up to date on electronic forms – DocHub, AssureSign and Jotform.
  • Planning documents – SharePoint, Calendar, and Microsoft Planner.
  • Program training and meeting platforms – Zoom and Teams.

Preferences:

  • Experience with school districts, PTA, or education systems/providers.
  • Knowledge of companies and workforce trends in the Triad.
  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Experience with program management, including development, scheduling, training, and implementation.
  • Experience or comfort with fundraising.
  • Experience with databases and CRM systems and/or comfort level learning job-specific software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and adequate vehicle transportation to perform the duties of the position. Program Coordinators are compensated for mileage.

Full-time, permanent position. Compensation based on experience.

JA of the Triad currently maintains a hybrid work environment. Instead of reporting to their assigned workstation for all regular workdays, there are assigned in-office days with the option of remote work on the remaining days. Currently in-office days are Mondays and Thursdays. Staff are notified in advance of other in-person requirements such as special meetings and events.
