Nestled in the heart of the beautiful rural community of Wiarton is Gateway Haven Long Term Care Home. Alongside the picturesque Colpoys Bay in Wiarton, 100 residents call Gateway Haven Home. Built in 2003, the home has many wonderful features that contribute to the health and well being of our residents. The unique "C" shaped building allows each resident to have a view from their room whether it is a view of our beautiful park, surrounding neighbourhood or a picturesque view of Georgian Bay.

About the job

The nursing department at Gateway Haven Long Term Care Home is accepting applications for Registered Practical Nurses. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) or Registered Nurse (RN), a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is responsible to assess, plan, implement and evaluate all assigned resident care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team according to established standards, policies and procedures.

Salary

The wage for this position is $33.02 per hour, based on the UNIFOR collective agreement. An additional 12% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation will also be paid.

Schedule

Part-Time positions are scheduled 4 shifts within a two week period, which includes every other weekend.

Shift Times

Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:00pm

Evening Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm

Night Shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am

Requirements

• Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario with annual mandatory licensing renewal
• Clear Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Current Two-Step Tuberculosis (TB) Test
• Proof of COVID-19 full immunization (3 immunications)
• One year previous working experience in a long term care setting with demonstrated leadership skills
• Post- RPN education and experience in gerontology or related field, preferred
• Current CPR certification
• Demonstrated commitment to providing resident-focused care - Ability to work with others in a team approach
• Physically able to perform assigned duties within a flexible work schedule
• Genuine interest in the well-being of the elderly
• Demonstrated patience, adaptability and flexibility
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet and maintain health requirements as per Long Term Care Legislation
• Proficiency in Point Click Care would be considered as asset
