Job description
The Senior Accountant role will be responsible for end-to-end accounting and finance of the company. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for working closely with all financial areas of the organization to ensure the company is properly supported, along with accountabilities for general ledger management.
The role will report to Director of Finance & Operations .
Job Description:
- Full accounting (Bank Reconciliation, Accruals, Prepaids, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable etc.)
- Processing of payments to vendors (check/wire/EFT), AP Cycle
- Supervising AR accountant related to AR cycle
- Reviewing, Booking of vendor invoices in ERP System accordingly processing the payment batches weekly basis.
- Financial statement preparation in accordance accounting Standard from ERP system.
- Balance Sheet reconciliations, including sub-ledger to GL reconciliation.
- Co-ordinate with cross department for sales, purchases and warehouse management
- Management of working capital and related reporting. Daily Cash Flow management monitoring and reporting
- Preparation of all government filings
- Bi-weekly Payroll preparation and Government filings such as GST and WCB, etc.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities
- Provide insights for management reporting
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of General Ledger for accountable entities is always maintained
- Completing other accounting duties within a complex environment
- Develops a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Complies with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Enter AR, AP, Journal Entries to ensure financial statements are current and accurate
- Schedule and complete Yearly Inventory cycle counts, reconciliation, and inventory write-offs as directed by the Finance and Accounting Lead.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Management
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in an accounting position
- Graduate in Accounting is a must
- Studying to be or have CPA/CMA designation is a plus
- Proficient in ERP systems. Experience in Spire is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of MS-Office applications mainly Excel, Outlook required
- Understanding of GAAP, Knowledge of bookkeeping practices
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be detail oriented with aptitude for documentation
- Creative, self-disciplined and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency
- Ability to take ownership of work, find solutions to issues and ensure timely completion of duties
- The candidate must be able to use tact, discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Motivated, punctual, attentive and self-starter.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
