Active Earth Engineering Ltd. is a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm specializing in environmental investigation and remediation, hydrogeological engineering, and geotechnical engineering. Our clients include government agencies (municipal, provincial, and federal), property owners, contractors, developers, realtors, architects, and other engineers and consultants. Our company was created in 2007 by a small group of like-minded engineers and geoscientists who sought to build a top-tier service consulting firm that tailored to our clients’ needs.

Our team currently includes more than 45 talented and passionate individuals, including hydrogeologists, engineers, project scientists, technicians and professional support staff. 2 CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a talented Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our incredible team, to provide technical support for a range of geotechnical projects and clients.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Preliminary and Detailed Site Investigations
  • Feasibility Studies and Forensic Reviews
  • Ground Improvement
  • Shallow and Deep Foundation Design
  • Excavation Shoring Design
  • Slope Stabilization and Retaining Wall Design
  • Construction Reviews & Oversight

In addition to residential and commercial development, our team is experienced in geotechnical engineering for industrial development, urban infrastructure, linear infrastructure such as pipelines and transmission lines, highways, and hydroelectric and marine/port developments

The ideal candidate will be capable of leading all aspects of these projects, with support from our team, as well as actively contributing to the growth of our geotechnical division.

The ideal candidate will:

Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in geotechnical, civil, or geological engineering.

  • Be registered as a P.Eng. in BC.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of consulting and/or industry experience in geotechnical engineering in BC.
  • Be proficient in standard desktop software (Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc.) and be comfortable with mobile apps and cloud-based software.
  • Possess a demonstrated ability and aptitude for:
  • Preparing and/or reviewing technical reports and proposals
  • Planning and undertaking geotechnical site investigations
  • Foundation design for small and large structures
  • Excavations and shoring design
  • Retaining wall design
  • Slope stability assessments
  • Working both collaboratively and independently, as warranted
  • Completing project objectives within schedule and budget constraints
  • Managing multiple tasks simultaneous and effectively
  • Communicating clearly in English, both orally and in writing
  • Directing subcontractors in a sound, safe, and respectful manner
  • Mentoring junior staff and contributing positively to the company culture

3 PAY, BENEFITS & HOURS

Estimated Annual Salary: $100,000 to $150,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

Paid Vacation: Minimum Four weeks
