Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for project management, task order management, and/or oversight of transit and rail projects nationwide and producing project deliverables, which include review and reporting of scope, schedule, cost and risk, quality and safety of the projects and performance of management capacity and capability reviews and readiness to enter into engineering, construction or revenue service. For oversight of the project, you must be able to write reports concisely, summarize findings, and provide conclusions and recommendations. For the management of projects, you must have the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team for planning, design, and construction of transit and rail projects.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or a Bachelor of Architecture from a NAAB accredited program required.
  • Professional Engineer license in the United States required.
  • Minimum of 12 years of project management or related experience, with 6 of the 12 related to major capital transit projects in project planning, engineering, and construction of major capital projects required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP or CCM) certification is required or 15 years of experience overseeing major transit and rail capital improvement programs for Federal Transit Administration-funded projects may be substituted for the required certification.
  • Experience in passenger rail or related transportation modes for the eight elements shown below is a plus:
  • Engineering design management
  • Project planning management
  • Construction management
  • Public outreach management
  • Federal grant management process
  • Regulatory and compliance experience
  • Project oversight services
  • FTA’s New Starts program
National Travel Required: 30-40%

Additional Requirements
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
