JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an agile Shipping and Transportation Coordinator who will collaborate with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure all shipments are timely and accurately audited, balanced, and closed-off. In addition, the Coordinator will monitor orders, coordinate customer appointments and deliveries. The individual will drive cross-functional accountability including monitoring and auditing all transportation billing invoices for accuracy and completeness while maintaining customer service expectations. Acts in the capacity of a Back-up Operations Supervisor and provides direction to staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Audits all orders for completeness and shipping availability; coordinates and matches the final carton count with the WMS.
- Responds quickly to all early cancels, rushes, and appointment orders by monitoring the Shipping dashboard for any outstanding cartons, expediting flow-through for missing cartons in order to complete shipments and meet customer needs.
- Communicates with internal and external contacts ensuring all customer service requests are completed.
- Works closely with Shipping, Transportation, and Customer Order Management Team to schedule and coordinate carriers, delivery times and dates, and prepares appropriate documentation utilizing internal and external systems.
- Audits, performs sign-off and completes all carrier invoices to confirm accuracy of rates, and ensures the proper cost center is charged for budget purposes.
- Prepares monthly reporting such as; carrier performance, budget variances, tracking of pallets etc.
- Support and act as a Backup Operations Supervisor. Comprehension of the collective agreement is required.
- Execute special projects, duties and tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and 1 to 3 years experience in a distribution environment.
- Transportation experience would be an asset.
- Experience in Warehouse Management Systems (Manhattan preferred)
- Strong leadership skills and an aptitude to grow to the Operations Supervisor level.
- Willingness to further current logistical education and formal logistics curriculum (i.e. CITT).
- Good influencing, problem solving and negotiating skills.
- Ability to multi-task with superior organizing, priority setting and time management skills.
- Credible, clear communicator to various levels of the organization and to external contacts.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Must be able to work under various conditions - tight deadlines, changing priorities,
- Drives for results and effective execution for self and when working with others.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Staggered start time, to be confirmed with manager, required and must be able to work overtime hours to meet business needs as needed, including weekends.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily works in a unionized, warehouse environment with exposures to conveyor noise, power equipment and dust.
- Must wear safety shoes / High Visibility Vest and adhere to all Health & Safety practices.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Walking and standing on concrete floors is considerable.
