We are in need of a full-time Repair Shop & Yard Assistant to complement our growing company. This well qualified individual will be reporting to the Shop & Yard Supervisor and provide support in the duties & administration of the shop and yard, and especially vehicle and equipment maintenance.

• Pay:  $20 to $25 per hour depending on experience

Qualifications:

• 3 - 5 years experience in auto or farm equipment repair

• Post-secondary training in small engine or automotive repair, or a related field

• Health & Safety training is an asset

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office365 an asset

• Active listening and problem-solving skills

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• Able to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Valid driver’s license and clean abstract a requirement

Key responsibilities include:

• Recording maintenance requests and user reports of issues

• Conducting vehicle and equipment inspections and reporting any problems

• Diagnose or troubleshoot equipment issues and perform appropriate repairs

• Performing oil changes, tire repairs, and general maintenance

• Using appropriate tools for repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment

• Making sure tools and equipment are working well

• Assist in keeping track of parts, supplies, and tools and order replacements when needed

• Complying with company and government regulations

• Properly disposing of used oil, radiator fluid, worn-out parts, and other components

• Using a computer or tablet for documentation and communication

• Prepare reports on a regular basis for review or collaboration with other departments

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required to meet the goals of the company

Work Conditions:

• Primarily in a shop and yard environment, occasionally job sites or equipment location

• Occasional after hours as needed

• Extended periods of standing and bending

• Lifting awkward and/or heavy objects

• Working with solvents, lubricants and fuels

• Busy work environment with frequent interruptions

• Interaction with employees, management, and the public

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
