Grand Valley Young Life has a rich history of nearly 40 years of ministry. Grand Valley Young Life encompasses the Grand Junction Metro Area in Western Colorado. Recreation abounds with world-class mountain biking trails, and snow skiing 45 minutes away. Moab and it's National Parks are an hour and a half drive.

Grand Valley Young Life is a large Young Life area. We currently have four high school clubs, three WyldLife clubs, Young Life College at Colorado Mesa University, and YoungLives. We have divided the area into "territories": West End, City Center, YL College, and East End. This job opening is to lead the Young Life ministry at Palisade High School, which has had ministry for more than 30 years. A qualified candidate will have the opportunity to advance in roles with the ultimate goal of becoming a Young Life area director for the East End of the valley which has two high schools and three middle schools. The east end of the valley has a diverse population and free and reduced lunch rates above 50%. This position will report to and work closely with Luke Feather, area director III for Grand Valley Young Life.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and grow dynamic ministry at Palisade High School which includes: contact work, club, Campaigners and camping.
  • Recruit and develop a diverse leadership team that reflects the community demographics.
  • Manage and lead up to 14 volunteer leaders.
  • Provide “care” for the Central High School leadership team.
  • Build adult relationships with the Palisade community with the goal of having an adult community care team (committee).
  • Participate in Young Life's national and regional New Staff training program.
  • Spiritual Leadership — Grow in your own relationship with Jesus Christ, and your capacity to lead others in the same direction.
  • Leadership Development — Train and equip diverse volunteer leaders.
  • Direct Ministry — Continue to help grow our high school ministry toward the furthest out kid.
  • Resource Development — With the help of Young Life’s Personal Donor Development coaching, raise a significant amount of personal support.
  • Ministry Support — Work with an existing area administrator to ensure excellence is maintained in the areas of communication, finances, etc.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
  • A healthy, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A passion for working with teenagers.
  • A passion for inspiring and casting vision to your volunteer team.
  • Young Life volunteer leader/staff experience (student staff or equivalent experience preferred).
  • Proven relational and leadership skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Willingness to raise personal financial support.
