Introduction
The Department of Revenue is looking for a self-motivated individual to serve as an Unclaimed Property Specialist for the Tax Operations Bureau. This position is located at 2135 Rimrock Road, Madison and is conveniently located on a bus route
Remote/Telework up to 60%. Note: After completion of probation, you can gradually increase up to 60% based on performance and workload needs. Position Summary
This is an entry level professional position performing work which requires specialized knowledge of the unclaimed property programs. This position will analyze, review and process unclaimed property claims, records, and forms under statutory provisions; provide direction to claimant (or their representatives) about claim requirements and eligibility; and compute and determine payments or assets/securities transfer related to claims. This position will approve claims up to $5,000 and perform basic holder reporting functions. Work is performed under close progressing to limited supervision.

Salary Information
Starting salary will be between $22.00 - $23.01 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits. For information on state benefits click here. Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions for the compensation plan for broadband 07-04. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Details
The department will conduct a background check, fingerprint check and tax compliance check prior to making an offer to hire. Interview results may be reused in accordance with the State of WI interview reuse policy.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have:
- Experience providing customer service to external customers by phone, in person, or in writing.
- Experience reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness and/or compliance with police and procedures.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, or equivalent.
Well-qualified candidates will also have:
- Experience researching technical issues.
- Experience approving or denying claims (e.g., claims for refund).
- Experience working with legal documents, (e.g., will/trust, reviewing pleadings/filings of court documents, beneficiary entitlements).
- Experience with security transactions (e.g., applying dividends, transferring, or selling shares).
- Experience communicating technical information to customers (e.g., laws, codes, etc.).
