Charlie Health has set out on a mission to reimagine how high acuity care is delivered to young people and families in crisis. Our initial offering is a virtual intensive outpatient program, which places peers with similar mental health experiences and goals into customized virtual groups. Our team of masters-level clinicians lead groups multiple times per week to deliver a higher level of care.

About the Role
This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the verification of benefits process ensuring efficient, accurate policy reviews and effectively handling referral complexities. Obtaining accurate benefits is the first step in financial process meaning accuracy is key as it determines patient responsibility and our ability to get reimbursed for services.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the timely verification of behavioral health benefits. Needs to be knowledgeable of common carve outs and exclusionary criteria.
- Review and update patients' current information and process requests accurately in the order received
- Responsible for verifying incoming patients on the daily admission schedule for all potential admissions using online portals such as Verify Treatment, payer websites, and Availity
- In each account provide a summary of information received from the insurance carrier and communicate to the appropriate teams
- Determine out of pocket costs to potential admissions and notify patient's and/or families of the cost of treatment
- Coordinate admissions with the admission center and utilization review department for per-certification needs
- Advise the supervisor of verification trends and updates
- Knowledgeable in determining when a patient visit requires a referral or case management and clearly communicates to patient and admissions team when a referral or case management is required
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of insurance benefits verification, preferably in behavioral health
- Strong customer service experience
- Strong attention to detail, strong communication skills
- Ability to work high volume requests
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to work evening and nights as hours are 12pm to 8:30pm Monday thru Friday or Wed – Sat 11 am to 9:30 pm
