PROJECT MANAGER – SPECIFICATION WRITER - HEALTHCARE GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS

Seeking motivated and (CM/PM) Specification Writer with design experience and education to join us on a project with the VA Medical Center DC Construction Program. Candidates will report to a Program Manager as well as collaborate and assist VA client staff to provide data, generate reports, as a representative for the client on major healthcare construction project.

Responsibilities:

Specification Writer will provide decisive guidance and direction in regard to the management of technical aspects of architecture and engineering related to building structures. Specification writers will be required to learn and implement industry, client, and internal company best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality, and operations in the healthcare environment. The services will be used to support traditional Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build contracts. A summary of the major tasks is below.

• Interpret architectural, engineering, and interior design plans and prepare standards and workmanship criteria, material and equipment list and specifications to be used as standards by contractors related to building construction activities

Required Qualifications:

• Licensing: None Required
• Education: Associates degree from an accredited University OR Graduate of an accredited Trade School or formal apprenticeship program OR 8 years of directly related experience.
• Experience: 5 years of experience in construction and/or engineering work environment interfacing and coordinating with an A/E staff responsible for facility design engineering and construction requirements. Knowledge of specification software and technical background in interfacing with engineering and construction professionals required. Professional experience should also include strong technical writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Federal projects and with the VA in particular.
