The Collections Specialist reports to the AP/AR Manager and will be responsible for the collection of outstanding receivables from our customers. the daily review of customer accounts on credit hold, and other aspects of accounts receivable, including billing customers, sending out statements, resolving collections issues, and researching and clearing customer deductions.

What you’ll do as a Collections Specialist:

  • Review accounts receivable aging and monitor accounts to determine overdue items
  • Review customer accounts on hold and determine whether to release orders for shipment, per guidelines
  • Contact customers to inquire about overdue payments
  • Resolve customer billing and collection issues
  • Report on collection activity
  • Assist in managing claims and deductions on customer payments
  • Perform other duties and assist with ad hoc projects as required

We’re looking for a Collections Specialist with:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience with accounts receivable collections with retail customers
  • Strong knowledge of accounts receivable policies, procedures and internal controls in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with accounts receivable processing in SAP a plus
  • Experience with large retail customers a plus
  • Experience with Exceedra/MEI trade promotion software a plus
  • Proficient skill with MS Office; Excel experience is a priority
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional customer service mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a rapidly changing team environment
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a proactive manner
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the various aspects of A/R, and how it relates to the company’s operational and financial processes

Physical requirements and working conditions:

Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:

  • Move throughout the entire facility to attend to various issues
  • Work effectively in teams across functional groups with strong communication skills and the ability to lead
  • Perform sedentary work on various computer systems
  • This Collections Specialist position is located on-site in our East Longmeadow, MA facility
