Job Summary and Qualifications

The Coordinator ECG Technician will provide responsible for overseeing ECG department daily operations. These patients are located in all the adult areas of the hospital. The Coordinator ECG technician must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that is appropriate to the patients served in his/her department. The Coordinator ECG technician must demonstrate knowledge arrhythmia interpretation, principles of growth and development over life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient medical status and functional abilities and interpret appropriate information needed to identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedures. Completes a competency skills checklist upon hire and annually thereafter. They must be able to demonstrate computer literacy. The Coordinator ECG technician is to ensure that bio-med received notification when a machine is broken or malfunctioning. Request ECG supplies such as patches, wires, batteries, and others. Relieve ECG technicians for breaks and meal periods. The Coordinator ECG must be comfortable with covering in other areas as assigned, namely, EEG coverage as needed.

The Coordinator ECG Technician maintains professional and effective working relationships with all members of the health care team. Perform supervision, orientation, mentoring, professional development and evaluations of ECG Technicians. When necessary, the ECG coordinator will administer discipline to employees under the coordinator’s charge.

  • Performance in compliance with hospital policies, protocols and procedures

  • Understanding of job duties, know-how in performing assigned tasks
  • Correctly identifies patient, introduces self and explains procedure
  • Knowledgeable in cardiac arrhythmia detection, recording and reporting methods
  • Works confidently in crisis or emergency situations
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvements activities
  • Reliability and persistence in following through with assignments on schedule and to follow policies and rules
  • Ensures that ECG staff promptly begins assignments after receiving report from previous shift
  • Willing to put forth effort in starting an activity, contribute to new ideas, or seek improvement
  • Is willing to learn new techniques, procedures, and equipment and assists in educating the ECG technicians that are under his/her supervision
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Minimum 10 years working in the role of an EKG technician. Minimum 5 years in a lead/supervisory role in a cardiology practice

  • Prefer prior exposure to biology, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology. Must be able to accurately interpret cardiac arrhythmia
