Position:

Chinook Therapeutics is seeking an attorney to work closely with partners across the company, overseeing and providing support for day-to-day legal issues and contract needs. This individual will provide support for clinical and preclinical activities, medical affairs, manufacturing, and other business activities, as needed. Reporting to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel and located in Seattle, WA, Oakland, CA, or Vancouver, BC this will be a high-growth position in a small legal department with significant exposure to all levels of the organization.


Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as legal contact for various parts of the business with respect to day-to-day contract needs.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize ordinary-course contracts including clinical trial agreements, clinical research organization agreements, informed consent forms, data protection agreements, services, consulting, confidentiality, and other agreements.
  • Provide support on other legal matters, as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive team-focused company culture.

Location: Chinook has offices located in Seattle WA, Oakland CA, and Vancouver BC

  • This position may be on-site at any Chinook office or remote (within US or Canada). Preference given to candidates located in the greater Seattle, Vancouver, or San Francisco Bay areas.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

Required:

  • J.D. from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • Admitted to practice law in one or more states, preferably Washington or California.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience within a high-growth U.S. publicly-traded biotech or pharmaceutical company.
  • Substantive experience in the areas of contract drafting and negotiation of biotech or pharma contracts.
  • Experience working with CROs, clinical trial sites clinical operations teams.
  • Exposure to GDPR, CCPRA and other Privacy laws is a plus.

Preferred:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively interfacing with all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated, assertive, and self-confident with the ability to act with urgency and passion.
  • Strong technical/analytical skills, combined with a practical, business-oriented approach to identifying and solving business and legal problems.
  • Entrepreneurial, enjoys working in a fast-paced, small-company environment.
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills; maintain a high level of productivity, innovation, and priority-setting; complete work on-time and on-budget.
  • Resourceful, creative, enthusiastic, and results oriented.

Salary Range: $190,000 - $221,000
