Founded in 1919, Junior Achievement (JA) has over 100 local JA Areas across the nation, and together we are the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA's programs—in the core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy—ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century. JA of South Central Kentucky has served the south central Kentucky area since 1981 and currently encompassess 13 counties.
Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky is seeking a Director of Education to lead our educational initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing curricula in and out of the classroom, connecting with school administrators and teachers, recruiting and training volunteers, overseeing the quality of instruction, collecting and recording CRM data, and managing the educational budget. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of educational best practices and a passion for creating an engaging learning environment for our K-12 students.
The Director of Education is responsible for:
- Program management in the following counties: Warren, Logan, Todd, Barren, Clinton, Cumberland, Allen, Metcalfe, Monroe, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Simpson
- Job Shadow Program
- BCRM (Blackbaud Customer Relationship Management) system
- Curriculum/ kit coordination
- School/Volunteer recruitment, training, and retention
- Career Speaker/Mock Interview opportunities
- People of Action
- JA Girls event
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and manage all student-focused programs in the 13-county South Central Kentucky area
- Ensure classroom programs requests are fulfilled and managed appropriately
- Manage all daily operations of program recruitment, implementation, retention, data management, administrative paperwork, and evaluation
- Assure program quality and integrity through effective communication, classroom monitoring, exceptional customer service, and evaluation tools
- Secure volunteers to deliver JA programs through corporate and community partnerships
- Grow program reach in rural South Central Kentucky (specifically Clinton, Cumberland, Metcalfe, and Monroe counties)through successful retention of volunteers and school district/youth development organization partners
- Oversee all logistics of program presentations in a variety of delivery models
- Provide training and orientation for all program stakeholders/volunteers
- Manage data entry, including all program-related information, management, and maintenance of constituent records in the BCRM (Blackbaud Customer Relationship Management) system for all counties and programs in accordance with JA USA guidelines
- Develop creative and innovative ways to serve our constituent population through current and new programming
- Collect and report all data, testimonials, and program progress for staff, grant proposals, reports, Board of Directors, etc.
- Maintain department tools to support program management including, but not limited to, a calendar of events, standard operating procedures, work plans, goals, and accountability tracking
- Work closely with marketing to provide social media content, share program impact, promote volunteer opportunities, etc.
- Serve willingly as a JA classroom volunteer, as needed
- Manage curriculum ordering, inventory, delivery, and budgeting
- Provide customer-centric, customer-focused program delivery and support
- Assist with yearly fundraising events including Bowl for JA, Hall of Fame/After Hours, Race for JA, Chili Cheese Luncheon, JA Classic, JA Inspire Virtual, etc.
- Perform regular office duties that include answering phones, greeting guests, office upkeep, etc.
- Must be willing to attend annual national conference/regional conferences
- Work in accordance with all Junior Achievement USA guidelines and partner, when necessary
- Work closely with the JA staff on all program happenings
Position requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of two years of experience in education, nonprofit, or similar field
- Passion for serving students in the South Central Kentucky community
- Basic knowledge of Junior Achievement and its mission
- Ability to work in a team environment, exhibit self-motivation, and multitask
- Ability to lift 20-30 lbs. (boxes, kits, event supplies, etc.)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Capability to cultivate and steward new and current stakeholder relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication
